Night of Promise

meeting

|| Wednesdays at 6:15 PM

What it is

Every year, on the last Sunday in January, we hold a Night of Promise, a worship night where we gather together and pray over declarations and promises we believe the Lord has spoken over our church, our body, and our personal lives. Testimonies are shared and words of encouragement are spoken.

It is usually right at the end or near the end of our church-wide 21 day fast. During the fast, members are asked to give up something for 21 days (look below for examples of the different types of fasting) and also to commit to prayer for the church, its staff and body, and for themselves personally.

During the Night of Promise, we write down what we have felt the Lord speaking to us on a card, and pray over all of them. We base this off of Habakkuk 2:2 which says:

Then the Lord answered me and said:

“Write the vision
And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it."

21 Day Fast

In preparation to the Night of Worship, our church partakes in a 21 Day Fast. It is our belief that fasting should be part of our spiritual walks and disciplines. Usually and Biblically, fasting is abstaining from food for a spiritual purpose-- whether that be to grow intimacy with God, praying for a loved one's salvation, healing, etc. At Christ Chapel Dublin, we also believe that God will honor other things that we give up in order to spend more time with Him (social media, sodas, phone usage, etc.)

If you have questions on how to fast, we have some examples listed below, as well as a resource from Free Chapel that may provide you with more information about fasting!

Full Fast
Drink only liquids (you decide the number of days).
The Daniel Fast
You will not consume meat, sweets or bread. You may only drink water and juice, as well as eat fruits and vegetables.
Daily Fast (full 21 days)
Give up at least one item of food, or something in your life that can be a distraction (good or bad!) from the Lord (no social media, an hour each day without your phone, no online shopping, etc.)
Partial Fast
A partial fast is from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm or from sun up to sundown. You can select from three types of fasting —a Full Fast, Daniel Fast or the 21 Day Fast.
